ROSPA Risk Table

ROSPA Play Safety has completed an annual inspection of all nine of the Parish Council’s Play Areas
and the Outdoor Gym. This is the first year that ROSPA has undertaken the inspections and the
assessment and report layout appear to be very thorough and clear to understand.
There are ten reports covering the various play areas that the Parish Council is responsible for.
Copies are available for inspection in the office or are available by email on request. The assets for
each site are listed with (innate) default risk scores (assuming there are no faults and complies with
standards) against actual risk scores at the time of inspection. These are backed up with details of
the findings including what is wrong, what to do about it and photographs.
Risks scores are calculated using the risk matrix  to the left.

The majority of items fall under either low risk or the low end of medium risk with general maintenance actions such as power washing algae of surfaces, or replacing worn parts on swings. Only the items within the skate park area fall within the low high risk category with scores of 13. Although there are a number of actions highlighted relating to replacement of missing rivets and damaged laminate it must be stressed that all these items have the same high risk score for their default rating due to the nature and use of the equipment. All the issues highlighted within the report will be undertaken in house.
Between the annual inspection the Grounds Team undertake weekly inspections to ensure the equipment is in good working order and the site fit for use.
